Why Fort Lauderdale is a Great Place to Study Business

Ft. Lauderdale is located in southern Florida, on the Atlantic Coast. The metropolitan area is growing; over 12,000 people moved here between 2000 and 2004. In all, Broward County is the third fastest-growing area in the country, with 1.7 million residents (2004). Many businesses are related to trade (national and international); especially goods that pass through the sea ports. The South Florida area is considered one of the top in the nation for new job and investment opportunities.

The city's economy is still largely based on tourism, though it continues to shed its reputation as a spring break haven. The downtown area is becoming trendier and more developed, with high-rises, condos, and boutiques and galleries. Large companies that are based here include the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, Citrix Systems, One Model Place, AutoNation USA, and National Beverage Corporation. Port Everglades is one of the largest seaports in the country, and the area is also served by commuter rail connecting it to West Palm Beach and Miami.
